GAMATAS LOTION is indicated for the treatment of various parasitic infestations affecting the skin and hair.

• Scabies (Sarcoptes scabiei)

  GAMATAS LOTION is highly effective in treating scabies, a contagious skin condition caused by the mite Sarcoptes scabiei. It alleviates intense itching and rash by eliminating the mites burrowed in the skin. Proper application ensures the lotion reaches all affected areas, providing comprehensive treatment and preventing further spread of the infestation. • Pediculosis (Lice Infestation)

  This lotion is also used to treat pediculosis, which includes infestations of head lice (Pediculus humanus capitis) and pubic lice (Pthirus pubis). GAMATAS LOTION works by paralyzing and killing the lice and their nits (eggs), thereby clearing the scalp or pubic area of these parasites. It helps relieve the associated itching and discomfort, promoting healthier hair and skin. A single application is often sufficient, but a repeat treatment may be advised by a doctor.

• Skin Irritation due to Parasites

How to use GAMATAS LOTION

• Adults:

For Lice: Apply to affected hairy areas (scalp or pubic area) and leave on for 4 hours, then rinse thoroughly. Use a fine-toothed comb to remove nits. Do not use more than twice in one week.

• Children:

  Use with extreme caution and strictly under medical supervision, especially in infants and young children, due to potential for systemic absorption and neurotoxicity. Dosage and application duration should be determined by a pediatrician. Generally, a single application for 6-8 hours is recommended for children over 2 years, followed by thorough washing. Not recommended for infants.

• Elderly:

  Elderly patients should use GAMATAS LOTION with caution and under medical guidance. While topical absorption is generally low, individuals with compromised skin integrity or other medical conditions may be at increased risk of adverse effects. Adhere strictly to the prescribed application method and duration.

• Missed Dose:

  As GAMATAS LOTION is typically a single-application treatment or used infrequently, a 'missed dose' scenario is uncommon. If a repeat application is advised and you miss it, apply it as soon as you remember, but do not apply more frequently than prescribed. Consult your doctor for guidance.

How GAMATAS LOTION works

GAMATAS LOTION contains Gamabenzene Hexachloride (Lindane), an organochlorine insecticide that acts as a neurotoxin to parasites. Its mechanism involves absorption through the exoskeleton of the parasites, where it then stimulates the nervous system. This stimulation leads to hyperexcitation, convulsions, and ultimately paralysis and death of the mites and lice. Lindane interferes with the gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA)-gated chloride channels in the parasite's nerve cells, blocking the influx of chloride ions. This disruption prevents the normal inhibitory neurotransmission, causing uncontrolled nerve firing. This neurotoxic effect is highly effective against Sarcoptes scabiei mites and various species of lice, including head lice (Pediculus humanus capitis) and pubic lice (Pthirus pubis). While effective, its use requires careful adherence to dosage and application instructions to maximize efficacy and minimize potential systemic absorption in humans, especially given its neurotoxic properties.

Precautions

• Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, nose, and other mucous membranes. Rinse thoroughly with water if contact occurs.
